CF Setter for WordPress

Allows you to define a custom field value from within the body of a post

What’s it good for?

By allowing you to set a custom field value from within the content of a post, this plugin extends the functionality of the various WordPress blogging apps that don’t yet allow you to access that sort of thing (e.g., WordPress’ official iOS apps).

For example, I use a custom field for my “linked-list”-type posts; using this plugin, I now can write and publish those posts from within the official WordPress iOS apps.

Installation and Implementation

  1. Unzip the plugin file into your /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Search for DEFINE_CUSTOM_FIELD and modify it so that it corresponds to the custom field you want this plugin to access. (For example, I’ve set mine to bit_uri, because that’s the field I use for my linked-list posts.)
  3. Activate the plugin from the WordPress admin panel.
  4. When writing a post, insert into the body of the draft, text of the form: [cf]custom-field-value[/cf]. (In my case, “custom-field-value” is a hyperlink.)
