Dragonfly

Mt. Dora, Florida, August 2006. Apparently I'm into wings lately as my last three shots have involved them. I wasn't too happy with how this shot turned out, but given the circumstances I figured it was worth putting up. You see, this was actually taken with my 70-200mm f/4L while laying on my stomach at the end of a dock (for what it's worth, I took this previous shot from the same dock). Not only was I shaking a bit, but the insect, which was about four feet from the tip of my lens, wouldn't stay put on its helipad for more than two or three seconds at a time.

I love how the background turned out, and the detail in the dragonfly is certainly OK all things considered, but I wish both the insect and I could have been a bit more still. It's tough to get those guys to cooperate. :P
